What people who create and evaluate Bulgarian film are saying? Different generations of filmmakers have contributed to today’s successful move of Bulgarian cinema. Their thoughts “behind the camera” are not only critical and fair assessment, but also a declaration of love to the film art.
Interview with Mr. Grozev about his research, publications and views about the history and current tendencies of Bulgarian cinema
More than 40 years exploring the history of the Bulgarian and world cinema, had published in many articles and books his research findings and insights. Some of them are: “Ambassadors in tin cans” (1972), “The Bulgarian film and criticism” (1974), “The cinema in Bulgaria” – I part (1897-1956) (2011), II part (2015). Taught at the National Academy and other Bulgarian universities, read lectures in Germany, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, and USA. He is member and chairman of juries in Bulgarian and international film festivals, and is one of the founders of the annual film festival “Love is Folly”. He represented Bulgaria in the “Media” and “Media Plus” programmes of the European Commission.
Was born in Sofia on June 29, 1987. He read film at the New Bulgarian University. Director and scriptwriter of two films – “The Significant Others” (2012) and “Botev is idiot” (2012). Co-writer of the film “Victor” (2011) and “Breakfast always on time”. Bearer of the Foundation “Stoyan Kambarev” award, and other awards from short-film festivals in Romania and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Winner of the national competition of the 11th International Short-Film Festival with “In the Palace” (2013) that granted him the special award “Euroshorts Special Mention”, and secured its screening in nine European short film festivals.
