Days of the festival with the lovely motto: “Sending a message of love”
The fourteenth edition of “IN THE PALACE” – the biggest international short film festival in the Balkans, which started late last year in Sofia, continues with the festival events in other Bulgarian cities. After Sofia – 01 – 06.12.2016 in the National Palace of Culture, Veliko Tarnovo follows (30.04 – 07.05.2017) where the unique of its kind youth workshop “CINE Super 8 is in progress. In addition, the preparation for shooting on film reels new films about the city is in full swing. Five teams are actively involved in the production of short films using the classical analogue technology, after which the participants in the initiative, the youths from Veliko Tarnovo together with their coevals from Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Slovakia, and Macedonia will develop the film reel in a specialised mobile laboratory supervised by lecturers from National Film School “Krastyo Sarafov”. In Varna, the festival will take place from – 28.05.- 04.06.2017, and the big final at the “Palace” in Balchik – 24.06.- 01.07.2017. In addition to screening the selected films in the national and international competition programme, the organisers have also anticipated other initiatives, including a 48-hour film challenge and youth film workshops. A competition programme in four genres – fiction, documentary, animation and experimental. Balchik will have interest-centred programmes, meetings with filmmakers, pitching sessions, analysing the market of film industries, a “children-for-children” film forum, and accompanying music events.
At the same time, the preparation of the 15th edition of the festival will set off.
The International Short Film Festival “In the Palace” is organised by the “SFF” Foundation and the “Veshtina” Foundation in partnership and the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Sofia Municipality, Lozenets District, Veliko Tarnovo Municipality, Varna Municipality, Balchik Municipality, the National Film Centre, the Centre for Human Resource Development and Erasmus+ Programme of the European Commission, the National Palace of Culture, the State Cultural Institute – the Cultural Centre “The Palace”, Sofia University “St.Kliment Ohridski”, the Festival Congress Centre – Varna, Nadezhda – 1869, the Italian Cultural Institute, the Italian Embassy, Cervantes Institute, the Embassy of Spain, Camões Cultural and Language Centre at the Portuguese Embassy in Sofia, etc.
