4 “Goya” awards for a film with Bulgarian participation
After 9 nominations “Nobody wants the night” – co-production between Spain, Bulgaria and France won four awards “Goya” for costumes, makeup, director of production and music. Inspired by the lives of real people – polar explorer Robert Peary and his wife, the film is a magnificent tale of human will, strength of character, the limits of risk and adventure rolled into one sentence – “Our lives have a price, and sooner or later we all have to pay”. For their film, Spanish director Isabel Coixet and screenwriter Miguel Barros, chose to cast French actress and “Oscar” winner Juliette Binoche – (“Chocolate”, “The English Patient”), Japan’s Rinko Kikuchi (“Babel”, “The wise guys Bloom”), and Irish actor Gabriel Byrne (“The usual suspects”). The greater part of the movie was filmed in Bulgaria with the participation of more than 300 Bulgarian professionals and with the support of the National Film Centre (NFC) and the Embassy of Spain in Bulgaria. Co-producers from the Bulgarian side are Ariel Illief and Dimitar Gochev.
